We've Just Made Our Biggest Investment Yet — And It Changes Everything About How You Can Improve Your Golf
The GolfSim Studio, Burgess Hill, West Sussex | Studio News
Three years ago we opened The GolfSim Studio with one goal: to give golfers in West Sussex access to the kind of technology and practice environment that was previously only available to elite players and touring professionals. Today, we're taking that commitment to a completely different level.
We've installed the Trackman iO Tour Suite — and if you've been a customer of ours, you deserve to know exactly what that means for your game.
First, Let's Be Clear About What This Is
When people hear "Trackman" they sometimes think of the basic launch monitors you'll find at driving ranges, or the ball-tracing graphics you see on television broadcasts. This is not that.
What we've installed at The GolfSim Studio is the fully loaded Trackman iO Tour Suite — the complete, professional-grade platform used by PGA Tour players, European Tour professionals, elite coaching academies, and the world's top club fitters. Every feature. Every data point. No compromises whatsoever.
The difference between a basic launch monitor and the full Trackman Tour Suite is enormous. Think of it like the difference between a basic fitness tracker that counts your steps and a full medical-grade health analysis. Both give you numbers. Only one tells you what those numbers actually mean, how they compare to your peers, and exactly what to do about them.
What About Our Existing System — Is It Still There?
Yes. Completely. Our existing ProTee system with over 2,500 courses isn't going anywhere. Augusta National, TPC Sawgrass, St Andrews — all still available, exactly as they were. Both systems are live in the studio and you can choose which you want to use depending on what you're after that day.
Before we opened the Trackman system to customers I wanted to be completely certain about the data accuracy — so I tested it myself. I ran a full side-by-side comparison of our ProTee system against the new Trackman iO, hitting the same clubs back to back and comparing all the key numbers.
The club data is identical. Ball speed, launch angle, club path, face angle — the measurements stack up perfectly. What ProTee has been telling you about your game has been accurate, and Trackman confirms it entirely. I have noticed that Trackman is producing slightly higher carry numbers, which I'm continuing to test and will update customers on — but the core club data is completely consistent between both systems.
What the Trackman iO Tour Suite Actually Gives You
Here's a proper breakdown of what's now available to every single customer at The GolfSim Studio.
Map My Bag
One of the most genuinely useful things any golfer can do — and one of the most consistently skipped. Map My Bag gives you precise, reliable carry and total distance numbers for every club in your bag, built from multiple shots and averaged to give you your real numbers rather than your best-case scenario. Not what you hit that one time with the wind behind you. Your actual, consistent, repeatable distances.
The number of strokes lost on golf courses every week because golfers don't truly know their distances is staggering. Map My Bag solves that problem completely.
Performance Centre
Your personal performance dashboard. Every session you complete at The GolfSim Studio is stored against your profile in the Performance Centre, building a detailed picture of your game over time. You'll be able to track how your ball speed is progressing, watch your shot dispersion patterns tighten, monitor your carry distances improving, and identify trends across weeks and months of practice.
If you're working on something specific — driver consistency, iron carry distance, reducing your dispersion — the Performance Centre shows you in clear, objective data whether what you're doing is actually working. No guesswork. No relying on how a session felt. Just numbers.
Strokes Gained Analysis vs Your Handicap
This is the feature that separates the Trackman Tour Suite from everything else available to amateur golfers. Strokes Gained is the analytical framework used by the world's best players and coaches to understand exactly where shots are being won and lost.
The Trackman system benchmarks your data against a database of golfers at your exact handicap level and tells you, with complete objectivity, where you are losing shots compared to your peers. Is your driver actually performing above average for your handicap — or are you giving shots away off the tee without realising it? Are you losing more strokes than expected from 100-150 yards out? Is your short game genuinely a weakness, or have you been blaming it unfairly?
Strokes Gained answers all of these questions and tells you precisely where your practice time will have the greatest impact on your scores. This is the most powerful golf improvement tool ever created, and it's now available to golfers in West Sussex at The GolfSim Studio.
Swing Camera with iPhone Integration
Place your iPhone on the mount in the bay and the Trackman system automatically syncs your swing video with your shot data in real time. After every shot you can review your swing frame by frame with ball speed, launch angle, club path and face angle overlaid directly onto the footage.
You can share your swing and data instantly with your coach for remote feedback between sessions, save footage to build a video record of your swing development over time, or simply use it to see what your body is actually doing versus what you believe it's doing. The gap between those two things is where most golf shots are genuinely lost.
Target Range
The Target Range transforms a practice session into something that actually resembles golf. Rather than hitting ball after ball at nothing in particular, you're given specific targets at varying distances and your shots are scored on carry accuracy and consistency. Every shot counts. Every miss is recorded.
The competitive scoring element creates the kind of focused pressure that makes practice actually transfer to the golf course — which is ultimately the whole point of practising indoors. You'll leave a Target Range session having genuinely tested yourself rather than simply warmed up.
Randomised Practice
Here's an uncomfortable truth that performance science has been telling us for years: hitting the same club to the same target 30 times in a row makes you better at that specific shot. It does very little for your golf game overall.
Real golf is constantly changing — different club, different distance, different situation, every single shot. Randomised Practice replicates that reality. The system automatically changes the target and club selection after every shot, requiring a fresh setup, a fresh commitment, and a fresh execution each time. The research into variable versus blocked practice is overwhelming — this approach builds far deeper, more transferable skill than traditional repetitive range work. This is how you stop being good on the range and start being good on the course.
Complete App Integration
The moment you walk out of The GolfSim Studio, your entire session is already on your phone. The Trackman app gives you access to your complete shot history, your Performance Centre data, your improvement trends, and your swing videos — all from your iPhone, anywhere, any time.
Show your coach before a lesson. Review what happened on the drive home. Come back the following week knowing exactly where you left off and what you were working on. Over a full season you'll build a picture of your golf game that no other tool available to amateur golfers can match.
And That's Just the Beginning
The Trackman Tour Suite goes significantly deeper than this blog post can do justice to. Detailed spin axis analysis, shot dispersion mapping, dynamic loft and attack angle data, full club fitting reports, and much more besides. The kind of information that until very recently was exclusively available to professional golfers and their teams is now here, in our studio, available to every golfer who walks through our door.
New: Self-Service Access from 6:00am
Alongside the Trackman installation, we're also introducing self-service access to the studio from 6:00am. Book online, receive your personal access code, and walk straight in. For golfers who want an early morning session before work, or who simply prefer to practise in their own time without needing to coordinate with us — the studio is now open in a way it hasn't been before.
Come In For a Personal Walkthrough — On Us
Before we open the Trackman system fully to new bookings, I want to give every existing customer the opportunity to come in for a free 20-minute personal walkthrough — just the two of us, going through the system together, looking at what it tracks, and working out specifically how it can help your game.
No charge. No obligation. But I'll be honest — when you see what this system can show you about your golf, you'll want to start booking sessions straight away. Offers across all of our services will be available on the day.
Simply book online here, give us a call on 01444 61 66 61, or drop us a message on Instagram at @the_golf_sim_studio and we'll get something in the diary.
Three years in, and we're just getting started.
